In cross section E-E', in the subsurface of VA and WV, the Nealmont Limestone is used for bioclastic limestone and argillaceous micritic limestone. Usage is restricted to region near Allegheny structural front. Shown as a part of the Trenton Group. Age given is Middle and Late Ordovician (Rocklandian to Edenian) based on fossils. [This age assignment subsequently refuted by Ryder and others, 1992, USGS Bull.1839-K, p. K1-K32.]

In WV, Trenton Group consists of the Nealmont Limestone and the Dolly Ridge Formation following the usage of Perry (1972). Nealmont is here assigned a Middle and Late Ordovician age in accordance with Sweet and Bergstrom (1976). [This age assignment subsequently refuted by Ryder and others, 1992, USGS Bull.1839-K, p. K1-K32.]

In section C-C' the Nealmont Limestone is everywhere Middle Ordovician (Rocklandian). [This refutes Ryder (1992, USGS Misc. Inv. Series Map, I-2264; 1992, USGS Bull.1839-G, p. G1-G25) where it was assigned a Middle and Late Ordovician age (Rocklandian through Edenian).]
