Pg. 66 (flg. 1), 84 (fig. 5), 85. Comyn formation. Name applied to subsurface section of Marble Falls group in Ranger area, Eastland County, north-central Texas. Includes beds below "limestone B" of Plummer and Moore's (1922) type log of the Ranger district. Unconformably underlies [De Leon] formation (new) of Big Saline group (Lampasas). Age is Early Pennsylvanian (Morrow). Younger than Mississippian (Meramec) Barnett shale.
Type section (subsurface): depth-interval 4,132 to 4,320 ft, Roxana Petroleum Company Seaman No. 1 test well, northwestern Palo Pinto Co., north-central TX. Named from town of Comyn, northern Comanche Co., north-central TX.
[Misprint (USGS Bull. 1200, p. 905): Comyn underlies De Leon Formation, not DeLeon Springs Formation.]
