Type section (subsurface): depth-interval 4,132 to 4,320 ft, Roxana Petroleum Company Seaman No. 1 test well, northwestern Palo Pinto Co., north-central TX. Named from town of Comyn, northern Comanche Co., north-central TX (Cheney, 1940).
