In some reports name Lousetown flows (informal) has been applied.

(alphabetical) --all informal, recognized locally in Truckee area, CA: Alder Hill basalt member, Bald Mountain olivine latite member, Big Chief basalt member, Boca Ridge flow member, Dry Lake flow member, Fir Crags gravel member, Hirschdale olivine latite member, Juniper Flat alluvium member, Polaris olivine latite member, Prosser Creek alluvium member, Tahoe City olivine latite member.

Geologic age:

late Tertiary to Quaternary (Miocene to Pleistocene)*


Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type locality: in area east of Lousetown Creek, about 6 mi north of Virginia City, western NV, where lavas are best exposed and exhibit most variation (Thayer, 1937).
