Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Well exposed on Gaikema Creek, in northern part of Iniskin Peninsula, southwestern AK. Named from Gaikema Creek (Kirschner and Minard, 1948).
Type locality: on left bank of Gaikema Creek, starting 5,000 ft from mouth and continuing upstream 1,800 ft, Iniskin Peninsula, southwestern AK (Detterman, 1963).
