Only known exposure is in SE/4 SE/4 sec. 21, T. 45 N., R. 31 W., [Iron Co.], Northern Peninsula, northwestern MI. Named from Fence River, which crosses magnetic belt 1,100 ft south of Sholdeis exploration, in sec. 21, T. 45 N., R. 31 W. (Gair and Wier, 1956).
