Type locality is along pipeline, along the valley of Bell Creek, in secs. 32 and 33, T. 47 N., R. 28 W., Marquette Co., MI, where most phases of the gneiss are well exposed. Named from Bell Creek, Greenwood quadrangle (Cannon and Simmons, 1973).
