Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

First described in vicinity of Woodhurst Mountain, northeastern part of Little Belt Mountains quadrangle, MT (Weed, 1899).
Type section: above road along the Dry Fork of Belt Creek at intersection of Currie Coulee, from SE/4 sec. 35 to NW/4 SE/4 sec. 36, T. 16 N., R. 7 E., Cascade Co., MT (Sando and Dutro, 1974).
