Type section: at spur north of Saddle Creek, either in[?] or across[?] Snake River, at 425-900 m elevation, either in NE/4 sec. 20[?] or 30[?], T. 24 N., R. 2 W., He-Devil 15-min quadrangle, either in Wallowa Co., OR[?] or Adams Co., ID[?]. Named from Wild Sheep Creek (Vallier, 1977).
Reference section designated in Snake River Canyon, near north edge of Deadhorse Ridge 7.5-min quadrangle, Wallowa Co., OR (Vallier, 1977).
