Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type locality: bluff 90 ft in height on east bank of Atascosa River, near Whitsett's house (in sec. 48, Reiffert and Forbese 100-acre tract of Juan Houligan Survey). Bluff is in Atascosa Co., just northwest of Live Oak Co. line, and extends from 6.5 to 7.5 mi south of Campbellton, Atascosa Co., and 1.7 mi N. 60 to 70 deg. W. of Whitsett, Live Oak Co., TX (Ellisor, 1933; Eargle, 1959).
