[Type area]: outcrops near Anvil and Ramsay [in T. 47 N., R. 46 W., Bessemer 7.5-min quadrangle], Gogebic Co., Northern Peninsula, northwestern MI, and in area extending about 2 mi (3 km) southeast of Ironwood, including area along Whiskers Creek, in T. 46 N., R. 47 W., [Ironwood 7.5-min quadrangle], Gogebic Co., Northern Peninsula, northwestern MI. Named from exposures along Whiskers Creek (Schmidt, 1976).
