Pg. 8-14, pl. 1 (geol. map). Whiskers Creek Gneiss. Generally foliated granodioritic rock derived by granitization from the underlying Ramsay Formation (new). Consists of quartz, plagioclase, and hornblende or biotite, but in most of area metamorphism has changed the mafic minerals to chlorite or epidote. Intruded by Puritan Quartz Monzonite (new), [notably south of Ironwood, Gogebic County, Michigan]; forms a simple envelope around the Puritan. Locally cut by dikes of Sunset Creek Intrusive Complex (new). Age is early Precambrian (Precambrian W); [late Archean].
