Type locality: on northwest side of Oscura Mountains, west slope of range, in eastern part SE/4 sec. 36, T. 5 S., R. 5 E., [Bingham 15-min quadrangle], Socorro Co., central NM. Named from Canyon de las Veredas in central part of Oscura Mountains, Socorro Co., central NM (Thompson, 1942).
