Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type area: along west branch of Boggy Creek, in center E/2 sec. 10 and center W/2 sec. 11, T. 8 N., R. 22 W., about 2 mi northwest of Van Vacter ranch house, Beckham Co., southwestern OK (Scott and Ham, 1957).
Reference section: exposures along Cave Creek, from SW/4 sec. 28 to NE/4 sec. 32, T. 5 N., R. 24 W., Harmon Co., OK (Johnson, 1990).
