Summary:

Assigned as the upper member of Blaine Formation of El Reno Group. Lies above Elm Fork Member (first published use), lower member of Blaine. First publication[?] to describe revision of lower contact. Revision was described in an unpublished thesis by author in 1967. As used in this report, member is divided into (ascending): unit 1 which has Mangum Dolomite Bed at base, units 2, 3, 4, 5, and unit 6 which has Acme Dolomite Bed at base. The original definition did not include the Mangum. Reference section is the exposures along Cave Creek, SW1/4 sec 28, to NE1/4 sec 32, T5N, R24W, Harmon Co, OK, Palo Duro basin. The member consists of two gray dolomites and the six units of interbedded white, finely crystalline gypsum, gray dolomite, and red-brown and gray shale. The six units are cyclic; each includes gypsum, red shale, and gray shale. Measured sections. Is 91.9 ft thick at reference section. Underlies Dog Creek Shale. Sections measured in Greer Co (S. Oklahoma folded belt province) and Jackson Co (Palo Duro basin). Cross sections. Permian age.
