Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type section: 2 mi south of Baldy Hill, in sec. 12, T. 31 N., R. 32 E., Union Co., northeastern NM. Named from exposures near Travesser Creek. Underlies slope wash and alluvium from Tollgate eastward to OK State line (Baldwin and Muehlberger, 1959).
