Type locality: Squaw Bay [now Birdsong Bay] shoreline of Partridge Point, in center of south line of sec. 11, T. 30 N., R. 8 E., [Alpena 7.5-min quadrangle], Alpena Co., northeastern MI (Warthin and Cooper, 1935).
[The geographic feature Squaw Bay, from which the geologic name was taken (Warthin and Cooper, 1935), was renamed Birdsong Bay (U.S. Board on Geographic Names, September 2022, USGS GNIS FeatureID 638662) in accordance with the Department of the Interior's Secretarial Order 3404.]
