Type section: at top of Zion Canyon about 500 m northeast of Observation Point, in NW/4 NW/4 sec. 2, T. 41 S., R. 10 W., Zion National Park, Washington Co., UT. Named from Temple of Sinawava in Zion Canyon, 1 km northwest of type section (Peterson and Pipiringos, 1979).
