Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Shell Bluff on north bank of Shoal River, 3.5 mi (straight line) northwest of Mossyhead and 0.75 mi east of Godwin Bridge; base of shell bed 42 ft above river and about 135 ft above sea level (Gardner, 1947).
