Type section: in farm fields, 0.6 mi south and slightly east of hamlet of Shadygrove [Shady Grove] on State Highway 16, [from approx. Lat. 39 deg. 46 min. 10 sec. N., Long. 77 deg. 40 min. 07 sec. W. to Lat. 39 deg. 46 min. 15 sec. N., Long. 77 deg. 40 min. 30 sec. W., Greencastle 7.5-min quadrangle], Franklin Co., southern PA. Named from [Shady Grove] (Root, 1968).
