Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Most characteristic occurrence in Setters Ridge, which forms north front of Chattolanee anticline, Baltimore Co., MD (Williams and Darton, 1892).
Reference sections: (1) exposed in quarries on southeast side of Avondale anticline, north side of PA Route 138 (Old Baltimore Pike), near intersection with Route 41, in community of Avondale, PA, Lat. 39 deg. 48 min. 23 sec. N., Long. 75 deg. 40 min. 47 sec. W., Kennett Square 7.5-min quadrangle, Chester Co., PA (locality Ba14-a); (2) outcrop in Eastburn's quarry, south of the intersection of Route 72 and Upper Pike Creek Road in Pleasant Hill Valley, Lat. 39 deg. 44 min. 25 sec. N., Long. 75 deg. 43 min. 03 sec. W., Newark East 7.5-min quadrangle, New Castle Co., DE (locality Cb12-a) (Plank and others, 2000).
