Type section: south wall of Berry Materials Co. quarry on north edge of North Vernon, in NE/4 NW/4 sec. 34, T. 7 N., R. 8 E., [southwestern corner Butlerville 7.5-min quadrangle], Jennings Co., southeastern IN. Named from Selmier State Forest, 1 mi northeast of type section (Lineback, 1968).
