Type section: in small tributary on east side of East Canyon, southern Lemhi Range, Butte Co., ID. Named from exposures at Scott Peak, Beaverhead Range, Lemhi Co., ID (Huh, 1967).
Reference section: in NW/4 NW/4 to SE/4 SE/4 sec. 25, T. 9 N., R. 26 E., Butte Co., ID (Mamet and others, 1971).
