Type locality: Tenmile Springs, in NW/4 SE/4 sec. 22, T. 48 N., R. 3 W., [approx. Lat. 38 deg. 23 min. 42 sec. N., Long. 107 deg. 11 min. 49 sec. W.], southwestern part of Cebolla 7.5-min quadrangle [1954 ed.], Gunnison Co., southwestern CO. Named from Sapinero Mesa, about 5 mi northwest of type locality (Olson and others, 1968).
