Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Vicinity of Sanders, Monroe Co., IN. Town is in SW/4 sec. 34, T. 8 N., R. 1 W. Present continuously along outcrop belt which extends from south tip of Harrison Co. along Ohio River, 123 mi south of Indianapolis northward to within 3 or 4 mi of common intersection of Fountain, Montgomery, and Parke Cos., about 60 mi north-northwest of Indianapolis (Smith, 1965).
