Type section: exposures in riverbed and banks of Salmon River extending upstream from a point 0.8 km southeast of Otis (in SE/4 SW/4 sec. 29) to Rose Lodge (in SW/4 SE/4 sec. 26), T. 6 S., R. 10 W., Hebo quadrangle, Lincoln Co., OR. Named from Salmon River (Snavely, 1991).
Reference sections: outcrops in riverbed of Neskowin Creek (in NE/4 NE/4 sec. 24, T. 6 S., R. 10 W.), and along Little Nestucca River eastward from point (in SW/4 SW/4 sec. 24, T. 5 S., R. 10 W.), both in Hebo quadrangle.
