Type locality: cliffs on river bluffs northeast of Tonkawa Twp., in sec. 36, T. 7 N., R. 10 W., Caddo Co., southwestern OK (Davis, 1955).
Apparently named from Rush Springs, Grady Co., southwestern OK (US geologic names lexicon, USGS Bull. 896).
