Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:
Type section [no longer exposed, ca. 1996]: exposures at Pleasant Grove School, in center SE/4 sec. 20, T. 3 N., R. 8 W., southeast of Roxana, Madison Co., southwestern IL. Named from village of Roxana, Madison Co., southwestern IL (Frye and Willman, 1960; see Hansel and Johnson, 1996).
