Type section: east-facing U.S. Interstate Highway I-25 roadcut (UTM 478,550 E.; 3,931,200 N.), at Romeroville Gap, 8 km south of Las Vegas, San Miguel Co., NM. Named from Romeroville, San Miguel Co., NM (Kues and Lucas, 1987; Lucas, 1990).
Reference section: Montezuma Gap, between Montezuma and Los Vigiles (UTM 475,400 E.; 3,945,150 N.), Colfax Co., NM (Lucas, 1990).
Reference section (subsurface): depth-interval 5,146 to 5,158 ft, electric log from W.J. Gourley No. 2 Vermejo well, in sec. 16, T. 30 N., R. 19 E., Colfax Co., NM (Lucas, 1990).
