Type area: exposures along Route 109, the Rio Anasco, and from Quebrada Alto Sana (Puerto Rico Meter Grid System 88,700 E.; 51,300 N.) to about 200 m west of Quebrada Cerro Gordo (85,000 E.; 50,200 N.), San Sebastsion quadrangle, northwestern Puerto Rico (McIntyre and others, 1970).
Named from exposures along Rio Blanco, Lares district, northwestern Puerto Rico (US geologic names lexicon, USGS Bull. 1200).
