A stratigraphic marker bed. Informal. The rank or lithologic term should not be capitalized.

Pennsylvanian
Permian, Early


Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Not designated. Name applied to marker bed of red shale in upper part of Minnelusa Formation. In the Dewey Dome oil field, Weston Co., WY, is 470 ft below top of Minnelusa; in the Mule Creek oil field, Niobrara Co., WY, is 465 ft below top of Minnelusa; and in the Lance Creek oil field, Niobrara Co., WY, 440 ft below top of Minnelusa (Krampert, 1940).
