Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type section: in quarry adjacent to the town of Burbank, in SE/4 sec. 25, T. 26 N., R. 5 E., Burbank 7.5-min quadrangle, Osage Co., northern OK (Keairns and Boardman, 2001).
Named from excellent exposures near Red Eagle School [along Salt Creek], southwest of Foraker, Foraker 15-min quadrangle [1916 ed.], Osage Co., northern OK. Section measured on tributary of [Salt] Creek, 0.25 mi east of corner of secs. 1, 2, 11, and 12, T. 26 N., R. 5 E., in southwesternmost corner of quadrangle (Heald, 1916).
[Red Eagle School (no longer exists) along western edge sec. 26, T. 27 N., R. 6 E., Shidler 7.5-min quadrangle, Osage Co., northern OK.]
