Type section (subsurface): depth-interval 1,116 to 1,722 m, electric log of Gulf-California 1 [well], OCS Block 46 (permit 296), Lat. 24 deg. 26 min. N., Long. 82 deg. 30 min. W., FL. Named from bathymetric feature, 11 nautical mi north of type well, Straits of FL (Winston, 1978).
