Type locality: northern bank of Mokelumne River, in sec. 17, T. 5 N., R. 11 E., about 3 km south of Rabbit Flat, Amador Co., CA. Origin of name not stated by authors, but probably named from Rabbit Flat (Duffield and Sharp, 1975).
