Notable exposures in valley of Chama River, Abiquiu quadrangle, Rio Arriba Co., north-central NM (Smith, 1938).
Type locality: outcrops in Guaje Canyon and along Puye Escarpment in the Los Alamos area (Griggs and Hem, 1964).
Type section: measured in NW/4 NE/4 SW/4 sec. 11, T. 19 N., R. 7 E., Jemez Mountains, Santa Fe Co., north-central NM (Griggs and Hem, 1964).
