Early to Middle Pennsylvanian (Bashkirian to Moscovian; Westphalian B; Atokan)


Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

[Type locality:] "Model City" roadcut near Pikeville, Pike Co., eastern KY (Chesnut, 1992; see Chesnut and Cobb, 1989).
Reference section (subsurface): USGS No. 1 diamond drillhole, just south of Pikeville in Dorton quadrangle, Pike Co., eastern KY (Chesnut, 1992).
