Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type section: along a stream and roadcut about 1.5 mi west of Old Port, Mifflintown quadrangle, Juniata Co., central PA. Beginning of section is 2,000 ft south of Lat. 40 deg. 13 min. 15 sec. N., Long. 77 deg. 25 min. 00 sec. W. (Conlin and Hoskins, 1962).
