Type section: exposures southeast of Silver Zone Pass, central Toano Range, in sec. 33, T. 35 N., R. 68 E., West Morris Basin 7.5-min quadrangle, Elko Co., NV. Named from small village of Oasis on Highway 80, 30 km northwest of type section, [in sec. 2, T. 36 N., R. 66 E., Cobra 7.5-min quadrangle, Elko Co., NV] (McCollum and Miller, 1991).
