Type locality: at former headquarters of old Nomlaki Indian Reservation about 6 mi northeast of Paskenta, Tehama Co., northwestern CA (Anderson and Russell, 1939).
Named from exposures on old Nomlaki Indian Reservation, Tehama Co., northwestern CA (Russell and Vander Hoof, 1931).
