Type section: northeast bank of Killik River, 10 mi upstream from its confluence with Colville River, Lat. 68 deg. 58 min. N., Long. 153 deg. 33 min. W., northern AK. Named from Niakogon Buttes, between Chandler and Anaktuvuk Rivers, Northern Foothills, northern AK (Detterman, 1956).
