Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type locality: near Neva Station, Cottonwood River Valley, Chase Co., KS. Neva Station has been moved since limestone was named. Limestone was named from exposures near junction of Diamond Creek and Cottonwood River Valleys in Chase Co. (Beede, 1902; Mudge and Burton, 1959).
