Named from exposures near Naturita, [Montrose Co.], southwestern CO (Young, 1959, 1960).
Type section: north side of San Miguel River, about 2,000 ft northwest of nuclear power plant, in SE/4 NE/4 sec. 13, T. 46 N., R. 15 W., Montrose Co., CO (Young, 1965).
