Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Sandpit on the northern valley wall of Mossy Creek, which flows southeastward across the Fort Valley plateau, on the west side of Taylors Mill Road, opposite Fairview Church, approximately 2.9 mi north of the junction of Taylors Mill Road and Georgia 49, Crawford Co., GA (Huddlestun and Hetrick, 1991).
