Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Named for the town of Moroni [Moroni 7.5-min quadrangle, Sanpete Co., north-central UT], with type locality at The Cliff, nearby (Schoff, 1938).
Type locality: highest point in Cedar Hills, about 7 mi north-northeast of Moroni, known locally as The Cliff, Sanpete Co., north-central UT (Phillips, 1962).
