Type locality: on Rio Cerillos Road (Route 139), near km post K6H9 (Puerto Rico Meter Grid System 135,910 E.; 27,190 N.), Ponce quadrangle, central Puerto Rico. Named from Hacienda Monserrate on the Rio Cerillos (Pessagno, 1960).
