Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Probably named from Midnight Peak [name changed to Midnight Mountain in 1960's], 15 mi west-northwest of Twisp, 2.5 mi northeast of Twisp River (Barksdale, 1948).
Type section: south limb of syncline between Twisp River and its tributary, Canyon Creek, in T. 34 N., R. 20 E., Midnight Peak 7.5-min quadrangle, Okanogan Co., WA (Barksdale, 1975).


AAPG geologic province:

Northern Cascade Range-Okanagan province
