Type locality: on south side and top of South Hill [now Belt Park Butte] in Belt Park, in center sec. 15, T. 14 N., R. 7 E., [Belt Park Butte 7.5-min quadrangle, Cascade Co.], MT (Deiss, 1936).
[Probably named from exposures in Meagher Co., Little Belt Mountains quadrangle, MT. See Weed, USGS Little Belt Mountains folio, no. 56, 1899.]
