Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type section: near top of McKenzie Hill on its westem slope. Named from McKenzie Hill, a limestone hill about 7 mi northwest of Lawton and 1 mi south of Signal Mountain, near Fort Sill, in secs. 8 and 9, T. 2 N., R. 12 W., Comanche Co., central southern OK (Decker, 1939).
