Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type area: south end of Luis Lopez manganese district, along east side of Chupadera Mountains from 2.5 mi north of to 3.3 mi south of Nogal Canyon, 11 mi southwest of Socorro, 7 mi southwest of village of Luis Lopez, in secs. 20, 29, 31, and 32, T. 4 S., R. 1 W., and in secs. 4, 5, 6, 8, and 9, T. 5 S., R. 1 W., Luis Lopez 7.5-min quadrangle, Socorro Co., central NM (Osburn and Chapin, 1983).
