Presumably named from exposures at or near Lodi, Columbia Co., WI. [According to Junemann (1951) Loddes Mill Bluff, southeastern Sauk Co., is appropriate type section, as it was previously labeled Lodi Mill Bluff on USGS topographic map and unit is well exposed there.]
